Snowy Mountain Adventure from Chengdu: A 4-Day, 3-Night Itinerary
Why Chengdu?
Spend 4 days and 3 nights in Chengdu—it’s more than enough to soak in the city’s charm. If you’re interested in Chengdu itself, stay tuned for my next post. Today, I’m focusing on the journey from Chengdu to the snow mountains 🏔️
Our Plan:
We joined a small group tour (6 people) for 4 days and 3 nights. It’s perfect for those who prefer flexibility and hate waiting around for large tour groups.
Our Plan:
We joined a small group tour (6 people) for 4 days and 3 nights. It’s perfect for those who prefer flexibility and hate waiting around for large tour groups.
Important Tips:
- Accommodation: We opted for luxury 5-star accommodations, costing around RM1000-1300 per person. Compare prices to avoid scams—if it’s too cheap, it’s probably a shopping tour. Make sure your tour operator is licensed.
- Weather Check: For those wanting to see snow in early winter, check the weather forecast and real-time conditions. Without snow, the scenery can be underwhelming.
- Food: Visitor centers in the scenic areas have dining options but are pricey. Bring snacks to save money.
- Warm Clothing: Essential items include a hat, scarf, gloves, and sunglasses. If you’re sensitive to the cold, bring heat packs. Temperatures can drop to -10°C with strong winds.
- Altitude: The highest altitudes range from 2500 to 4800 meters. If you’re prone to altitude sickness, take it easy and bring medication. The roads are winding and steep, so pack motion sickness pills and prepare for altitude sickness to avoid headaches and nausea.

- Movement: Avoid strenuous activities. Slow and steady wins the race. Consider carrying an oxygen tank if you’re worried about altitude sickness.
- Cash: Signal strength is poor in the mountains, so having cash on hand is advisable.
- Suitability: Not recommended for the very young or elderly due to the cold and physical demands.
